A ceremony to purify the soul and body of impurities in preparation for the invocation of the deities.
The priest recites a norito to the deities to announce the marriage.
Ceremony where the bride and groom exchange sacred sake (omiki)
The bride and groom make vows of eternal love, and exchange rings.
The bride and groom read out their vows.
(The groom reads the vows; the bride reads out her name).
Tamagushi (saksaki branches decorated with cotton/paper strips) are offered to the gods.
(The bride and groom make their offerings first, followed by the go-betweens and the family representatives).
Relatives from both families drink omiki to pray for the flourishing of both families.
Please make requests by phone call first, in order to arrange a date. The applicant will then be asked to come to Izumi Shrine and fill out a form to recieve official confirmation.
