About the Exhibition
Calligraphy is an art form that expresses the spirit of the writer through brush and ink, often inspired by classical words and phrases passed down through history.
Hosokawa Morihiro began practicing calligraphy in his late forties. During his time as Governor of Kumamoto Prefecture, he produced many calligraphic works and deepened his interest in the art.
Today, he continues his artistic activities at “Futō-an” in Yugawara, creating works in a wide range of fields including calligraphy, ceramics, ink painting, oil painting, lacquer art, and fusuma (sliding door) paintings.
This exhibition offers visitors a chance to appreciate the spirit and aesthetics expressed through his calligraphy works.
